This recipe hosts a heap of health benefits specific to pregnancy.

Eggs are full of Choline:

Including eggs in your diet ensures an adequate intake of choline, promoting a healthy pregnancy and optimal brain function for both the mother and the baby.

Why are eggs so important? They’re packed full of Choline- a crucial nutrient, especially during pregnancy. Known for playing a vital role in:

  • Foetal brain development
  • Overall neural tube formation
  • Contributing to the development of the baby’s memory and cognitive functions.

Yoghurt is full of Probiotics:

The probiotics present in yogurt contribute to a healthy gut microbiome, which is beneficial for the digestive system.
During pregnancy, maintaining a balanced gut microbiota is important for the overall well-being of both the mother and the developing baby.
Probiotics also play a role in supporting the immune system, helping to protect against infections and promoting a healthy pregnancy outcome.

Chia seeds, for their fibre & Omega-3 Fatty Acids:

Chia seeds are an excellent source of dietary fibre, aiding in digestive regularity and preventing constipation (a common complaint in pregnancy).
The omega-3 fatty acids found in chia seeds- particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), are essential for the development of the baby’s nervous system.
Omega-3s also contribute to reducing the risk of preterm birth and promoting a healthy pregnancy.

Citrus flavours alleviate the symptoms of nausea common in pregnancy.

Consuming the volatile oils in citrus, and in this recipe- lemon, can also be really beneficial for reducing nausea.

PLUS incorporating your prenatal vitamins into the recipe ensures you’re getting all your pregnancy nutritional requirements in one cup.
